Dear St. Clare of Assisi parish,
I am constantly amazed and gratified by the generosity, devotion and dedication to our parish that so many of you display on a regular basis. Our parish evangelization, catechetical, liturgical and social justice ministries would not be as successful as they are without the devoted parish staff and volunteers that makes St. Clare a true spiritual home. I have been especially edified by all the hard work that has gone into making sure our mission as a parish has continued despite the limitations we face during this pandemic. Sunday mass, our full-time grade school, adult faith formation, youth ministry, men’s club, Knights of Columbus, bible studies, RCIA, and PSR, just to name some, have all displayed amazing dexterity in carrying out their ministries. Our parish staff and volunteers never stopped evangelizing during COVID. They all adapted to ensure both safety and success.
In this week’s Flocknote you will find our annual stewardship report which gives a more detailed look at our financial status as a parish. As you review the report, I would ask you to prayerfully consider how you might be able to continue, increase, or renew your support to the mission of St. Clare. I have been moved by some of our parishioners, who realizing others have had to decrease their donations, increased theirs. Like many other parishes, we have seen a significant financial impact due to COVID. To be candid, we are on pace to have close to a 700k shortfall in our Sunday collections. Thankfully, we received a 300k loan from the government that we hope will be forgiven, but our Sunday collections currently remain about 7k below budget per week. While we are blessed to have savings as a parish, we have upcoming capital needs (roofing on the church and school) that also need to be addressed. As we are all in this together, not only did every member of the parish staff take on new or modified responsibilities but did so while also accepting a pay freeze. I am edified daily by their work and dedication to our parish.
Let us all give thanks for the many blessings of our parish, and through the intercession of St. Clare continue to behold Jesus, consider Jesus, and contemplate Jesus that we may desire to imitate Jesus.
St. Clare of Assisi, Pray for Us!
