The Law of Love
Today a scholar of the law asks Jesus what the greatest commandment is. It was a way to test him. But Jesus silenced him when he said the greatest thing we could ever do is to love God fully and to love our neighbor as ourselves.
When we think about it, the Mass itself is a way this "law to love" is realized. We gather to worship God by giving him of ourselves. And then we're sent into the world to show love to our neighbor and to treat them the way we would want to be treated.
Join us today as we pray and celebrate the Mass, whether in person or on-line. It's what is keeping us together during these times when we need strength, hope and the desire to connect.
Neighbors in Need: Food Drive Today Until 3pm
Today's Food Drive (October 25) will benefit St. Marcelline’s St. Vincent dePaul Society. They let us know they are in need of food and paper goods to support their food pantry. We'll be at the front doors of the church until 3pm. Thank you for helping our neighbors in need.
Also, we celebrated with our brothers and sisters at St. Marcelline. On October 24, retired Auxiliary Bishop George Rassas installed Fr. Tony Bury as their new pastor to fill Fr. Hal Stanger's shoes who recently retired. Fr. Mike was there to offer congratulations along with Fr. Jeremy Thomas, the new pastor of Church of the Holy Spirit, and Fr. Joe Glab, pastor at St. Matthew. It was truly a joyful celebration.
CAFE@Home
Our popular CAFÉ adult formation program has moved online! CAFÉ@Home is a new way to engage our faith when we are not able to gather in person as a group. Staff member, Stephanie Tatara, explains more in this short video:
"Do You Love Me?" (John 21:16)
The Saint Hubert Choir, under the direction of Ed Magistrado, sings T. Tallis' "If Ye Love Me" for today's on-line liturgy. When Jesus asked Peter if he loved him, Peter said, "Yes, you know I do." Jesus said, then "Tend my sheep". In other words, if we love Jesus, we'll love our neighbor as ourselves. It's a beautiful reflection on today's gospel.
We're truly grateful to the members of our choir for finding a way to share their talent with us!
