As Catholics, we are called to cherish, defend, and protect those who are most vulnerable, from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between. During the month of October, the Church asks us to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life.
Even though we are in the last week of Respect Life month, our call is continuous. Lets take what we learned from this month of deeper reflection and use it in the months to follow till next October when we reflect deeper again and the cycle continues. Our lives are always swirling at 90 miles an hour that it is important we have these reminders to stop, pray, and reflect on a deeper level what it means to call ourselves Catholics and live a Christ-like life day in and day out.
I am happy to report that Our Respect Life Month Donation Drive with St. Anne's Society was a huge success! We collected just over 100 packages of adult diapers, 100 boxes/packages of baby diapers and 150 boxes/packages of feminine hygiene products! Last Thursday and Friday, Amanda Rangel (St. Anne's Society Outreach Coordinator) and I had the privilege of delivering these items to Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in the fifth ward and Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM). The staff at both locations were beyond grateful for the love and generosity shown by the CtR parish! A large portion of the baby diapers will be delivered to Catholic Charities tomorrow. Thank you, thank you, thank you! We couldn't have done it without y'll! Our parish is awesome!
The final two USCCB articles I chose for this month are:
1. Top Reasons to Oppose Assisted Suicide .
2. 10 Ways to Support Her When She is Unexpectedly Expecting.
I pray you have found these articles fruitful and encourage you to share with others.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19
