We pray for the young 4 yr old boy, Quentin, from Kenton who went missing last week and then was sadly found deceased in the Scioto River on Monday afternoon. I’m sure it is heartbreaking for his parents and family. Please keep them in your prayers.
This Sunday, we celebrate All Saints Day for the Sunday Mass, celebrating the saints in heaven, both known and unknown. On Monday, we celebrate All Souls Day, remembering those who have died, especially from our parishes in the last year, and praying for their eternal rest.
Box of Joy - Pick up boxes!
Pick up instructions, gift ideas, shipping donation envelopes & boxes from the table at the back of both churches. Each gift box you fill should be geared toward a girl or a boy in one of three age groups - 2-4, 5-9, 10-14. These will be Christmas gifts to children in need around the world. Return the boxes of gifts to the church by November 11.

Nick Klear's ordination, No first Saturday Mass on Nov 7th
I will be at the ordination of Nick Klear the morning of Nov 7th as he is ordained to the diaconate. He will be a permanent deacon serving both parishes, as Deacon Mike Hood currently does. The Ordination Mass of the 10 new permanent deacons for the Diocese of Columbus will be at 10am. Admission is by ticket only, but you are welcome to join in the celebration via livestream at columbuscatholic.live or St. Gabriel Radio AM 820.
We join his family in wishing him our congratulations and offering him our prayers!
Our parishes will not be able to have a reception for Deacon Nick and his family because of Covid restrictions but you are invited to give or send personal congratulations. Deacon Nick will be preaching his first Masses at OLL the same weekend as his Ordination: the 5:30 pm Mass November 7 and the 11 am Mass, November 8. Preaching for Immaculate Conception will be the 4 pm Mass on November 28 and the 9 am Mass, November 29. You may send him a card to 0176 State Route 235, Ada, OH 45810.
OLL Veteran’s Day Drive-thru Dinner! Nov 11th 4-7pm
Instead of the annual parish bazaar, we will honor our veterans by holding a drive-thru dinner Wednesday, November 11th from 4pm – 7pm at OLL church. There was some confusion in ICC’s bulletin listing the dinner as free for veterans but it was supposed to say the desserts were free for veterans. We also decided to change the price from $8 to $10 so as to minimize the exchange of dollar bills.

National Vocations Awareness Week
Nov 1 – 6 is National Vocations Awareness Week. If you know of anybody who would make a good priest, or religious brother or sister, or nun, please encourage them to consider taking concrete steps forward to discern this call. God will never disappoint those who follow His will so let them know to be not afraid. And be not afraid to encourage them. I was annoyed sometimes when people would encourage me but eventually I listened and am glad they did! For more info, visit

An invitation from the Ethnic Ministries Office:
Black Catholic History Month
All are invited to join the Ethnic Ministries Office in celebrating Black Catholic History Month during November. In 1990, the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus of the U.S. designated November to celebrate the rich and proud heritage of Black Catholics. On Sunday, November 1, 2020, 4-6 p.m. join a virtual presentation on African American Men and Women on the Road to Sainthood. On Sunday, November 15, 2020, 3-6 p.m., we will host a virtual day of reflection in preparation of the next National Black Catholic Congress, which will be July 2022. Both events are free. Donations for the cause of canonization will be accepted. If you would like resources and information to celebrate Black Catholic History Month please visit the Ethnic Ministries website at
www.columbuscatholic.org/cem or email Director Pam Harris,

Reflections on choosing political candidates
Attached is a flyer from the Catholic Conference of Ohio on how to choose political candidates. Voting is our civic duty, but we must be prudential in how we vote. The Church cannot endorse any political candidate but does offer many guiding principles on how to vote with an informed conscience.
Sacred Heart Congress, Nov 14th
Everyone is encouraged to have a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Congress gives teaching and inspirational talks to encourage this devotion. See the attached flyer for more info.
Repeated info:
Ad Orientem Mass
Ad Orientem is Latin meaning “to the east.” Just as the sun rises in the east with the hope of a new day, and is symbolic of God coming in glory, this way of worshiping means all turn “to the east” to worship the risen Son. All in the congregation will continue to face the same way as usual (you are already facing “liturgical east”), but the priest will also face “liturgical east,” the same way as the congregation during the prayers. While it looks like the priest has turned his back on the people, he is in reality leading the congregation in prayer by offering the sacrifice of Jesus Christ to God the Father. While God is everywhere, the posture symbolizes that together, we look “toward the Lord.” This posture of the priest helps everyone to be more intentional about “listening” to the prayers and praying along rather than being distracted and “watching” the priest (and his unintentional weird facial expressions) during the prayers. It will be my first time offering Mass this way so it will be an interesting experience even for me!
Consecration to Jesus through Mary for both parishes
The Church has a tradition of making an act of consecration to Jesus through Mary. This means an intentional act of meeting our Lord in a new way with the help of Mary, his, and our, mother. Think of the wedding feast at Cana when the wedding couple ran out of wine. It was through Mary’s intercession that Jesus made more wine. He provided for them and did so in abundance. A good, simple way to make this act of consecration is through a book called 33 Days to Morning Glory. Join us beginning on November 6 for 33 days of prayer and reflection to make a consecration on December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Email Steve Johnson at sjohnsonpv@gmail.com if interested. The daily prayers will be on your own but we may be able to connect with each other along the journey, so let us know if you want to participate. We are still working on those details. Those who have done a consecration before may renew that consecration as I will be doing on that day.
Live-stream schedule this weekend
The live-stream of the Mass will take place this weekend at OLL at 11am.
Attached is this weekend’s worship aid for Mass, the bulletins, Sacred Heart Congress info, and voting with a formed conscience.
