The Wise Christian
There’s a story about a King who claimed to hold divine power of life and death over his subjects. Because of this he decreed that it was legally impossible for even he himself to change any sentence once he imposed it on a person. One day the King became so irritated by his court jester that in a sudden fit of anger,
he sentenced the jester to death. As the king realized all too late how harsh his judgment was, he felt terrible and sorry for his jester. However he knew that he couldn’t change the sentence. The King said to the jester, “In consideration of your faithful service, I will permit you to choose the manner in which you prefer
to die.” The Jester took a few moments to think this over, and then he answered, “I choose to die of old age.”
Wouldn’t be great if we were given the opportunity to choose when we could die? If given the choice, I’m sure we too would choose to die after a long life on earth and at a “ripe old age”. However the truth is, our journey to God can come at any time- as our Lord tells us, “you do not know the day or the hour.” The wise Christian is one who constantly and consistently seeks to be “right with God.” The wise Christian lives his/her faith daily. The wise Christian is always prepared,
always ready, to meet his/her maker. The wise Christian can be confident that
with every passing day on earth, they are not closer to death, but that much closer to eternal happiness.
God Loves You,
Fr. Dunn
Thank You all Forest of Fear Volunteers!
A very special and hearth-felt thanks to the many volunteers who helped make this year’s Forest of Fear a tremendous success! I greatly appreciate your time and efforts. Special mention and thanks should be made to our “master minds”- Gene McNamara, David Knight, and Bob Novella. Their creativity, time and hard-work knows no bounds! Also, thanks to all who participated and supported the Forest of Fear as well! 2,843 people walked through the Forest, producing $42,645 in proceeds!
It was great to get together and provide some family fun in this unusual and difficult time.
Remember, review our website (forestoffear.org) for next year’s days/times!
Sunday Mass
Bishop Frank J. Caggiano has announced that we will return to phase 2 capacity of 25% or 100 people inside our churches. In those parishes that are ready to follow our established norms, the celebration of weekday Masses, Funeral Masses and Nuptial Weddings within our Churches may also resume.
The weekend schedule is as follows:
- Saturday Vigil @ 4:30pm
- Sunday @ 8am 10am & 12pm
Please let us know if you will be attending Mass by calling our Parish Office (203) 797-0222 or emailing us at
sgbulletin@aol.com. This should be done on a weekly basis beginning every Monday.
( This is not necessary for weekday Masses.)
By attending the parish service, you recognize the obligation to (i) wear a mask or face covering when
required; (ii) adhere to all required direction regarding social distance spacing when participating in the
service and (iii) not attend service if you are sick, experiencing any symptoms consistent with the coronavirus, or are otherwise required to be quarantined.

Adoration Every Friday after Mass!
Something that is very important to both Fr. Ford and I, is Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We both are deeply devoted to Jesus in the Eucharist. Prayer, especially in front of the real presence of Our Lord, is what supports and blesses the work we do at St. Gregory. Without regular and devout prayer in the presence of Our Lord, a Parish will truly suffer. Therefore, we will offer Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament for one hour (from immediately after the 8 AM Mass to 9:30 AM). Going forward this will continue every Friday. I encourage you to help bring blessings to both our Parish and your personal life by joining us for this Holy Hour.
Thank you ahead of time for your interest and prayers!
Weekly Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy!
The theme for our Parish and school this year will be, “Jesus I trust in You!”
These are the words found at the bottom of paintings of the Divine Mercy of Jesus.
In thanksgiving to Jesus and asking for His and Mary’s continued blessings and
protection this year, we’re adding two weekly devotions to our Parish Calendar. First, we will recite the Chaplet of Divine Mercy every Friday at 3 PM with the Blessed Sacrament exposed.
Second, we will pray the rosary every Monday at 9:30 AM, asking for our heavenly Mother’s intercession. The children of our school will livestream and participate from our school (others may do so as well), and parishioners are encouraged and most welcome to attend. I truly believe in the power of prayer and that these additions will bring many blessings to our Parish and School!
