Parish Update -- November 6, 2020
Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph:
1. Congratulations! -- Congratulations to Collins Louise Arnett who was baptized this morning, the daughter Emily and Zach Arnett. Congratulations also to Corina and Brian Davisson and their child, Andy Helene Davisson who will be baptized Sunday.
2. No Daily Mass Wednesday -- I have a meeting I need to be at in Jackson, so I won't be present on Wednesday, so we won't have Mass.
3. Master Plan -- Cory Gallo will be here after all the Masses this weekend to show the concept drawing alternatives to the parish for those of you interested.
4. Sunday Mass Sign-ups -- We are discontinuing the Signup Genius requirement for attendingMass. There is still a maximum of about 100-125. When Ushers realize that there is no more room and social distancing cannot be maintained, they will put up the sign on the doors signifying that the Mass is full. If this happens, we apologize and we encourage anyone who is late to come to the next Mass or to a daily Mass during the week.
5. Game-day Parking -- If you are going to the game on Saturday these next two weeks or if you are coming to the Cotton District we will be providing parking for $20 per vehicle.
6. iGive Catholic -- Surrounded by the Saints -- This year we are raising funds for Stained Glass windows for the narrow panes in the church building. There are 18 windows in total. Each window costs a little more than $5,000. Over the course of the next few years, we'd like to raise enough money to complete all of the windows. We are beginning with four windows. The first set of saints will be St. Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows; St. Joseph, our patron saint; Saint John Henry Newman, Patron of Catholic University Students and Catholic Campus Ministry centers; and Servant of God Sister Thea Bowman, whose cause for sainthood just began two years ago in our diocese. Of course any amount helps, but here are the different giving levels:
Window Angel - $5,000
Saint - $1,000
Blessed - $500
Venerable - $250
Servant of God - $100

7. St. Joseph Food Pantry -- This November and December the Food Pantry will try to offer a meat for their patrons. Please keep this in mind as you consider your giving for this Thanksgiving and Christmas season. If you'd like to help them. The Food Pantry dates are: November 21 and December 12. They can use all the help they can get.
Peace,
Fr. Jason
