Hello Faith Formation Families!
Last week's lesson was about All Saints and All Souls Days! We had that beautiful lesson about All Saints Day that included information about making a family prayer space, a saint scavenger hunt to find yourself a patron saint, and the interview of a living saint!
If you haven't done that interview yet and you plan to see some of your older family at Thanksgiving, either virtually or in person, make a plan to do that interview then. I interviewed my grandma about her faith when I was a teenager, and it was amazing to learn what it was like growing up as a Catholic girl in the 1930's and 1940's. I hope you'll learn something inspiring too! I promised to link that All Saints lesson for the rest of the month, so here it is again...
During the month of November, we're going to be learning about the Corporal Work of Mercy "Feed the Hungry." Our next three lessons will focus on Scripture, Saints & Service, and an activity to deepen our understanding of how we can Feed the Hungry!
"Feed the Hungry"
Family Lesson #6
Let's begin our lesson as we begin all things, with the Sign of the Cross.
"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen."
Then pray the "Hail Mary" together.

Activity: Scripture Discussion
Today's activity is to dig a little deeper into the scripture passage I talked about in the introduction. Pull out your family Bible and look it up: John 6:1-14. Here's how...
First, find where the Gospel of John begins in your Bible. It's the fourth book of the New Testament, the part of the Bible that tells about Jesus's life and the early Church.
Then, find Chapter 6. In some Bibles, the chapter numbers are headings on the section, like the one in my example. In other Bibles, you'll just find a big number 6 at the beginning of the chapter.
Next, find verse 1. The verse numbers are the little numbers at the beginning of each phrase or sentence. This is where you'll begin to read.
(A little Bible trivia... the longest verse in the Bible is found in the story of Queen Esther in the Old Testament, Esther 8:9. It's 69 words long!)
Then, find verse 14. This is the last verse you'll read in this passage.
Read John 6:1-14 together and then discuss it with your family.
What does this Bible passage teach us about God?
What does it teach us about ourselves, human beings?
What does it teach us about how God wants us to live?
Special Bible Verse
Here's the nugget from today's Bible passage. As a family, read this Bible verse a few times slowly. Take a quiet moment to think about what Jesus is telling us.
"Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted... and they had their fill."
If you wish, you could also write out this Bible verse in fancy letters, or even try to memorize all or part of it!

Here's a God Sighting of mine this week. I get to see this beautiful Japanese maple tree from my church office window! Praise God for the beauty of a Michigan fall!
