My dear friends of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish,
1) This Sunday, November 15th, our Parish welcomes Bishop James Massa, the new Rector of Saint Joseph Seminary - Dunwoodie in Yonkers, as celebrant of the 10:00 AM Mass. His Excellency is an Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Brooklyn and this Fall is visiting a number of parishes in the Archdiocese of New York as a way of introduction.
Please join in welcoming Bishop Massa!
2) As we commemorated the end of the "Great War" - World War I - at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month earlier today, I would like to share with you a video of one of our parishioners, Mr. Anthony Rabasco, recalling his service as a Combat Veteran in Korea.
Thank you to all Veterans, living and deceased, as well as to their families for the many sacrificed you endured and continue to bear.
3) Yesterday Pope Francis saw to the publication of "The McCarrick Report," a painful but necessary part of confronting the scope and depth of the clerical abuse scandal in our Church. While the report is over 450 pages, attached please find a balanced summary (it includes a link to the full report):
4) In the wake of this Report's publication, next Monday evening, November 16th, there will be an opportunity to come together as a parish for the Rosary and for Eucharistic Adoration (including the Divine Mercy Chaplet) in Atonement for Abuse, beseeching Our Heavenly Father through our Lord Jesus for Mercy, Healing and Reconciliation for all impacted by Abuse.
Kindly sign-up for either or both prayers.
5) This Friday, November 13th, following the 9:30 AM Mass, Eucharistic Adoration will be offered until Benediction concludes the prayer at 11:00 AM.
Kindly park all vehicles after Mass in the South Lot.
6) During this month of November, let us continue to remember our beloved dead, especially those named on our Altar:
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and
let Perpetual Light shine upon them.
May they Rest in Peace. Amen.
May their souls and the souls of all the Faithful Departed through the Mercy of God, rest in Peace. Amen.
Have a blessed end to the week.
In Jesus and Mary,
Msgr. Luke Sweeney
