An update from Third Grade….November 13, 2020
We had a great week in 3rd grade! In Reading we read the story “Jump” about the life of Michael Jordan. In Phonics we learned about the vowel diphthong oi, oy, the difference between fact vs opinion, special plural nouns and suffixes -y, -ful and -ous.
We took Chapter 4 test in Math over multiplication facts and strategies. We will dive into how to use our multiplication facts next week. Everyone has been working hard to learn their facts.
We are continuing to learn about slavery during Social Studies. We have been reading and sharing facts from “If You LIved When There was Slavery in America”. In addition, we are reading “Addy Learn a Lesson” - an American Girl book that takes you through what life was like as a young slave girl in the late 1800’s.
Our Science kit just came so we will start “Water and Climate” next week.
We wrote, drew and colored Thanksgiving cards for our friends at the UP Home. They practiced their writing skills while bringing joy to the elderly. These cards will be delivered by Thanksgiving.
During technology time, we were able to create Google Slides Presentations with a partner or in a group of three. We had to split the workload in their group, collaborate on a slide show theme, create the content and practice presenting. Once they were ready, we used the Swivl to video their presentations to share with St. James staff. We are becoming more confident in their abilities to create a Google Slide Presentation and being videoed during the final presentation.
Mrs. Sheetz’s surgery went well and your kids have been fabulous for me this week. They are hard working, respectful students and I thoroughly enjoy working with them.
Have a great weekend.
