Dear Parishioners,
Flexibility as a Virtue
I just started wondering if flexibility is a virtue. So, I googled it and found a couple of interesting articles.
As Catholics, we believe that the Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. During this pandemic we have needed to be flexible so that we can continue to receive Holy Communion and draw ever closer to Jesus who invites us to receive Him.
At St. John's, we will continue to adapt as the pandemic changes. Right now, Tom and Matt are installing audio wires. Tomorrow and Thursday, our sound company will install outdoor speakers and an FM transmitter. If we need to have Mass in the parking lot or at least to have people listen to Mass in the parking lot, we'll be more ready than we are now. Currently, GoToMeeting on your cell phone is the way to listen to Mass in the parking lot.
Yesterday, I recommended Abandonment to Divine Providence. Today, I offer a more solid definition of flexibility. God comes first. In light of our changing situation, we need to be flexible so that we can continue to put God first and love our neighbor as best we can.
Intercessions
Add your own intercessions by clicking on "Reply". Here are a few:
1) For healing for all those who have been abused.
2) For all the new people with the coronavirus, especially those in hospitals.
3) For our government officials to discern the best course of action for the common good.
4) For the bishops of the United States as they meet virtually for the second day.
5) For families to discern the best way to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas.
God love you,
Fr. Jim
