Dear Parishioners,
This has been a year in which many of us keep asking questions like, “What does the future hold?” or “How do we move forward?” We have all been faced with many trials and tribulations during these past several months. We never know what can happen next, nor do we truly know what the future holds. Consequently, we must all be reminded to trust in the perfect love of our Heavenly Father who is always with us and who will never abandon us. As a principal of an elementary school, I have come to learn that each day presents its own set of unique challenges, just as each day also presents moments of great amazement and joy. Let me share with you one such joy-filled moment…
Recently I was contacted by a former St. Benilde parent whose child attended our school 38 years ago. She explained to me that as a single mother she could not afford the tuition at that time for her daughter and how St. Benilde found a way to take care of her family by making sure her daughter could remain a student at our school. This parent reached out to me because she wanted to pay for her daughter’s tuition now, 38 years later! She said she felt it was important because of what St. Benilde had done for her and her daughter. This is the difference that Catholic education and St. Benilde, in particular, makes in the life of the children and families that we serve every day.
With this in mind, I ask you to please partner with me during these challenging and uncertain times by investing in the potential of a child. Last year, through many prayers, many donations, and prize monies from three contests, St. Benilde raised over $80,000 in just 16 days through the generous support of over 400 donors. St. Benilde finished first in the nation with the most donors and ninth in the nation for the total amount raised.
Our goal this year is to raise $100,000 through the support of over 500 donors. On November 16, the early giving period starts for #iGiveCatholic and continues to #GivingTuesday, December 1, the culmination of the #iGiveCatholic fundraising campaign. You may not know what the future holds, but today you have the opportunity to invest in the future of a child.
In sincere gratitude for your prayers and support,
Thomas Huck
