Interfaith Giving Tree - 2020
Dear St. Luke's Parishioners and Wonderful Giving Tree Family of Supporters:
This year is different for so many of us, and also for our Interfaith Giving Tree Program. Although some aspects of it are much the same -- we delivered 180 family applications to the schools to be distributed to needy families in Westborough and 250 more were requested, so the need is certainly still present -- some aspects must be different due to the COVID-19 situation we are all in.
We are still six churches working together, but congregations are all a little different as well.
Gifts to the Westborough children in need this year will be limited to one $50 gift card for each child, as well as a winter coat which will be donated by organizations such as Knights of Columbus and Kids Clothes Club.
We are asking all those who are able and willing to please donate.
The need is great and the process is different but our hearts are still open and ready to help. Thank you in advance for joining us in this wonderful town-wide act of love.

There are several easy ways you can help The 2020 Giving Tree Project:
- Check: Write check to “St. Luke's Church” and "Giving Tree Program" in the Memo. Send to St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough, MA 01581. Our volunteers will purchase the gift cards.
- $50 Gift Card: From Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Walmart, Target, or Solomon Pond Mall. Call Maria at 508-366-5502 to arrange a drop off time at the Rectory.
- Credit Card Online: Safe and contact-free. We will purchase the gift cards.

THANKSGIVING 2020
Due to Covid, there are more local households experiencing food insecurity. Outreach is asking for help to replenish the supply of grocery cards.
If you can help, please give a gift card from a local market (Stop & Shop, Roche Brothers, or Wegman’s, in any denomination) or make a cash donation.
Westborough ASP's Annual Pie Sale Goes Virtual
Baked with goodness and love, but with none of the calories!
Every year, Westborough ASP kicks off the fundraising season by baking hundreds and hundreds of pies for your Thanksgiving tables. This year, it is unsafe to gather dozens of our youth together to peel, mix, assemble, and bake. So, we are going virtual!
We would love your support!
All donations benefit our ASP trip and our commitment to Appalachia. So, you can still share thanks for the work of ASP around your Holiday dinner table – with none of the calories! In appreciation, we are sharing three of our Best Pie Recipes.

St. Luke's Organic Gardens
Would you tend this garden patch for "Bernie's Table?"
St. Luke's Organic Gardens (SLOG) is a community garden located adjacent to the parish cemetery on Rte. 135 in Westborough.
This past season we started a new effort to collect produce for local families who turn to Parish Outreach for support. As part of this, a local Girl Scout tended a patch dedicated to growing food for this purpose. Named "Bernie's Table" in honor of the late gardener Bernie Durning, all food produced in this plot went to families in need.
Together we collected and distributed produce for about 9 families during the summer months. The Girl Scout has earned her Gold Award, and needs to find a new person to tend the garden patch.

A letter from Bishop McManus regarding upcoming actions on the ROE Act:
My dear friends in Christ,
Earlier this week the Massachusetts House of Representatives utilized the state budget process to approve the expansion of abortion in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. In certain respects, the budget amendment did remove some provisions that were deeply troubling in the ROE Act.
However, there remain several aspects in the proposal that are completely unacceptable. Among them is the expansion of abortion in certain circumstances for the full term of pregnancy. Additionally, it would reduce the current age of consent for an abortion from 18 years of age to 16 years of age.
This week, the budget debate will move to the full State Senate. I am asking you to call your local Senator and urge him or her to vote no on an amendment that expands abortion in Massachusetts.
