Good Afternoon,
I wanted to provide an update to families before Sunday regarding isolation and quarantine. This morning we learned that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. The individual was a close contact to all of the students in one classroom. Therefore, the entire class will be quarantined for the next 14 days. Those families affected have been contacted already and the students have been sent home. We do not believe that any other staff members or students are at risk at this time.
With active cases in Lyon County now topping 700 and the number of people quarantined continuing to rise, it is more important then ever to make sure that you are following all safety protocols all of the time. This is especially true with the holiday coming up next week. I strongly encourage you to take proper precautions and to limit the amount of people you interact with.
We will continue to provide in person education as long as is possible. However, we now have 15 students and staff members at home due to isolation or quarantine. We are confident that our protocols are working to prevent spread at the school, as most of those out are due to contacts outside of the school. However, there is a point where we will have to reconsider how we are conducting instruction if quarantines and isolations in the school continue to rise. Your help is necessary in this.
I appreciate the communication and cooperation that we have received to this point and am confident that we can continue working together to make this year great. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
God Bless,
Mr. O'Neill
