Dear Parishioners,
Sunday is the Feast of Christ the King. We celebrate Christ as the King of the Universe; as King over all nations; as King in our hearts. This is to remind us that our allegiance to Christ comes before all else.
Today's Gospel is when Jesus returns in glory with all his angels to judge the nations. While this may seem daunting, it should give us a sense of Hope. How he will judge us is based on the Corporal Works of Mercy. It is an opportunity for us to remember that we serve Jesus in sincere prayer but it must be lived out in our lives. We are called to love God and our neighbour. The word Love is a verb - an action. When we feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give shelter to the homeless, visit the sick, welcome the stranger - it is Jesus that we are reaching out to and it strengthens our relationship with God. This reminds us of the intimate relationship that we have with Jesus and the intimate relationship he desires with all of humanity.
As we conclude this liturgical year, let us humbly place Christ as King in our lives. Then may we be as kind and merciful to others as our King is to us. This is our call to holiness, using our unique gifts to not only see Christ in others but to serve Christ in each other.
Thank you to everyone who has stepped forward to offer physical, spiritual and financial support to our parish. As a community, we are truly blessed.
Let us continue to pray for each other and with each other as we build up the Kingdom of God.
I keep you and your families in my prayers.
May God bless you.
