Dear Parishioners,
Thanksgiving Schedule
We will have the 8 AM daily mass on Thursday and Friday. The church and office will be closed the rest of both days. The church will not be open from 2-4 PM either day for private prayer.
Advent Confession Schedule
With the beginning of Advent on Sunday, we enter a good season for going to confession. As such, we'll add some opportunities. And we're moving inside the parish hall because of the cold. Enter via the canopy entrance to the church.
I will sit behind the screen in the back of the parish hall. Penitents should wait in the church until I'm available. Walk up to the screen and stand for confession (unless you have your own wheelchair). We would rather not have to sanitize a bunch of chairs. Feel free to sit in the church for private prayer either before or after going to confession. A greeter will be in the church to direct people and sanitize.
I will be hearing confessions as follows:
Mondays from 2-4 PM and 5:30 to 7:30 PM
Fridays from 3:15 to 3:45 PM
Saturdays from 1:30 to 2:30 PM
Saturday confessions will only be on December 5, 12, and 19. We will not have Friday confessions on December 25th or January 1st.
Note that the church will be open for private prayer (except for holidays) from 2-4 PM on Monday through Friday as well as Mondays from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM and Saturdays from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM.
If you are not able to stand for confession, then please call to schedule an appointment. I can come out to the parking lot and hear your confession while you're in your car.
After Advent, we'll reduce the confession schedule. Saturdays will go back to baptisms. Monday evenings will be reduced to 6-7 PM. Monday and Friday afternoons will stay the same.
We're looking for people to be greeters for Monday evenings during Advent and beyond. Please contact Joe Pittarelli at
joe@stjohnlakehurst.com.
Advent Resources
We did not order 2021 missallettes. Neither have we ordered any more of The Word Among Us, not even for the lector. Plenty of wonderful resources are on-line. You could also order The Word Among Us or Magnificat for home delivery.
Prayer Time
I visited an elderly couple today. The husband is close to seeing Jesus face-to-face. The wife is exercising caution because of the pandemic. Let's pray for one another. Add your own intentions by clicking on "Reply". I'll get us started.
1) For all those isolating at home, may they experience consolation from the Lord.
2) For all the new COVID patients, may they be healed.
3) For all the new COVID deaths, may they be brought home to the Lord and their families comforted.
4) For a peaceful and truthful resolution to election controversies.
5) For the well-being of all health care workers as they deal with the influx of COVID patients.
God love you
Fr. Jim
