In all circumstances, give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
Today’s Thanksgiving might look, feel, smell, and taste a bit differently, but it’s still a day to give thanks to God. 2020 likely hasn’t gone the way you wanted, but there is still plenty to be thankful for—death makes us thankful for life, quarantine makes us thankful for those under our roof, seeing others lose their jobs makes us thankful for our own, seeing other states close down athletics makes us thankful for the opportunity just to play, having the chance to attend church has made us even more thankful for the worshipping we get to do, being alone makes us thankful for the times we get to see others, being on the receiving end of harsh words makes us thankful for the real friends who wouldn’t do that to you, knowing there’s a vaccine just around the corner makes us thankful for the scientists and doctors who gave up so much to make that happen, hearing of overflowing hospitals makes us thankful for the healthcare community who put their own lives on the line for you, being in school makes us thankful for the teachers and custodial staff who are doing more than ever before, everything being harder this year makes us thankful for all the essential workers in every industry. And, finally, my sisters and brothers in Christ, having you in my life makes me thank God all the more because we are ALL in this TOGETHER and it is because of our love for one another that we are able to say, Happy Thanksgiving! Amen
