Advent is a time of preparation to encounter the Christ Child at Christmas. Often the real purpose of Advent is lost in the busyness of shopping, Christmas parties, and school programs. Since the events of the world have caused so much of this to change, we encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities at St. Pius X that will help you keep your focus and prepare for what Christmas is really about....Encountering the Christ Child.
Pick one thing you can do each week and when Christmas comes, you'll be ready!
Pray the Advent Scriptures with Lectio Divina
Lectio Divina might sound intimidating but it's just Latin for Divine Reading. It involves reading the scripture prayerfully and asking God to open your heart and mind to speak to you through them. The Faith Formation staff put together this short video for our families to help explain how to pray Lectio Divina. The best way to learn is to do, so we are providing you with a templete for Lectio Divina each week of Advent. Follow along and practice makes perfect.
Morning Prayer and Night Prayer
The opportunity to pray morning prayer and night prayer as a community will be a cornerstone of our Advent preparation. You may have heard of them, as priests are required to pray them daily as part of the Liturgy of the Hours. But you need not be intimidated! This is an wonderful way for you to learn and experience the daily prayer of the Church. You can learn more about the Liturgy of the Hours
here but the best way to learn is to do, so join us for prayer. Worship Aids will be provided.
Registration for the Advent Morning of Reflection ends Monday, November 30!
Advent Day of Reflection "O Come, O Come Emmanuel"
The St. Pius X Council of Catholic Women invite you to attend the 2020 Advent Morning of Reflection either in person or in your home by private live stream,

Advent Wreaths
Don't forget to bless an advent wreath on Sunday. The Advent Wreath will help you mark the journey through Advent in your home. You can find the blessing
here. If you aren't familiar with an Advent wreath, learn more
here. You can buy Advent wreath sets, but you can make your own with 3 purple candles and one pink (or rose) candle that you can set on your table or mantle.
Blessing of a Christmas Tree
Did you know that you can bless your Christmas Tree? Traditionally a Christmas tree is set up right before Christmas and left up through the Feast of the Epiphany. There is a good chance you might set yours up earlier so we will give you the Blessing
here.
St. Pius X Catholic Church welcomes you to worship with us this Christmas! It is our hope that you'll find that it is a safe and prayerful experience.
Reservations are needed for those planning on attending a public celebration of the Mass at St. Pius X this Christmas. You can make your reservations online or by calling the parish office at 651-429-5337. Making your reservation early will help us in our planning. The Mass will be live streamed on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for those who choose to attend virtually.
