Hello there POTHE!
In this Flocknote you'll find links to several useful bits. Weekend Worship Aids. An introduction to New Hymnals and a return to a contemplative Mass Setting. A meditative Taize entrance song and a simple duet to quietly usher in the season of Advent. And much more.
Advent music is about waiting. And preparing. The internal stripping away of excess and the paired down liturgies. (Notice: no Gloria!) It all coalesces into that something "other" that prepares the way of the Lord... Let's not be too eager to get to Dec 24. Church has provided musical paths - all well worn and trod over the centuries - to guide our pilgrimage to the creche. You'll hear the shift to yearning in the musical texts this weekend...
O Come O Come
Come Lord Jesus
Maranatha
The King Shall Come
O Come Divine Messiah
Wait for the Lord
Soon and Very Soon
Each week I search the best of the internet for sacred choral music that aligns with the Weekend's scripture readings and post several selections on our website at Choral Music Worth Hearing.
Holy Martyrs masses will feature
Wait for the Lord (above) as the entrance hymn throughout Advent. I found this duet of
Wake, Awake, so simple and reverent. Wake, O Wake is traditionally heard this first weekend of Advent when the Gospel begins and ends with "Be watchful! Be alert! Watch!" Enjoy. More at

Here you'll be taken to the Parish Music Webpage where you'll find links to our worship aids, information on our substantial and varied church music programs (youth through adult) and other resources to help you worship fully, actively and consciously.
ADVENT MASS SETTING Belmont Mass by Christopher Walker.
For Advent we switch Mass Acclamations to Belmont Mass from Christopher Walker. Its melodic and simple unison line will help quiet your soul and heart during Advent. (Introduced Advent 2017, Belmont will be sung again Advent 2019/Advent 2020, etc.) You can find it in the new Breaking Bread hymnal at #849-#854.
You can listen here to get reacquainted with this setting.
